Frequently asked questions

On a prefilled syringe, what most determines labelling is the container geometry, the manufacturer’s tolerances and the traceability requirements. The label must be applied in a very precise position, without affecting the graduations or the functionality of the syringe, while guaranteeing correct reading of the batch number, expiry date and identification codes.

Syringes are handled by holding the body of the container and avoiding any contact with or force on the needle, the cap or the safety systems. Specific change parts and guiding systems are used for this, ensuring safe handling and precise positioning during labelling.

A backstop label uses a physical point on the container, such as a flange or a shoulder, as a stop. This way the label always ends up in the same position, which is particularly useful on prefilled syringes and other pharmaceutical containers where orientation is critical.

The scale remains visible when the label position is precisely controlled. Inspection cameras are normally used to verify that the graduations are not covered and that the label is within the tolerances defined for each syringe format.
