Frequently asked questions

Regulation (EC) 1223/2009 sets out what must appear on the container: responsible person, nominal content, date of minimum durability or PAO, precautions for use, batch number, function of the product and the list of ingredients using INCI nomenclature.

That is a lot of information for containers that are often tiny. When the surface is not big enough, the regulation allows part of the content to be moved to a leaflet, an attached label or a card, which on the machine translates into a multi-page label or a second application. It is worth deciding this before fixing the format.

In cosmetics there is also a second requirement that is not regulatory but carries just as much weight: the result has to be flawless, because the label is part of the product the end customer buys.

It is the open jar with a number of months inside, and it shows how long the product can be used once opened. It is mandatory when the date of minimum durability exceeds 30 months.

It looks like a minor detail and it is not: where it is placed determines the label area left free, and on small containers that decision can change the whole application approach.

A no label look finish is achieved by combining a high-quality clear label, the right label tension during application and a tangential application system that ensures uniform contact with the container.

However, the condition of the container itself is just as important as the labelling technology. For a perfect result, the container must arrive clean, free of dust, moisture or particles, with a surface free of deformations, irregularities or defects. In this type of application, any imperfection in the container or contamination of the surface remains visible under the clear label and compromises the final finish.

Yes. With specific application systems and precise process control, oval containers, tapered containers or containers with irregular geometries can be labelled with a high level of accuracy. Each project is studied individually to guarantee correct label positioning and a top-quality finish, even on the most complex containers.

This is one of the areas where Etima’s Beauty range is most developed, with models such as SATURN Beauty, ETIFLEX Beauty and B-STAR Beauty designed for complex geometries and a premium finish.

Our labelling solutions adapt to a wide variety of cosmetics and perfumery containers: perfume bottles, cream jars, bottles, tubes, airless containers, roll-ons, sticks, make-up containers and other special formats. We study each application to guarantee accurate labelling and a clean, elegant finish, whatever the shape or complexity of the container.

Yes. A single labelling machine can apply several labels to one container, either at the same station or using different labelling stations, depending on the project requirements.

The key is not just the number of labels, but guaranteeing their precise positioning and correct synchronisation with the container. This keeps the labels aligned with each other and ensures a uniform finish, even when front, back and closure labels or decorative elements are combined.

The system can also be adapted to different formats and configurations, offering the flexibility needed to meet the aesthetic and functional requirements of each product.
