A tamper-evident seal is a security label designed to reveal any attempt to open or tamper with the pack. It guarantees that the product reaches the end user in the same condition in which it left production.
It is mandatory for prescription medicines: Commission Delegated Regulation (EU) 2016/161 requires an anti-tampering device together with the unique identifier.
Tamper-evident seals are placed on the opening areas of the pack so that any tampering attempt leaves visible evidence. They are usually applied between the cap and the container, or over lids, closures or carton flaps.
Labelling on cardboard requires taking into account the quality and finish of the material, as well as the presence of folds, flaps or edges. With the right choice of label and adhesive, accurate application and excellent print quality and traceability can be achieved.
